K-15 potassium octoate trimerization catalyst for polyisocyanurate (PIR) and rigid PU foam systems.
K-15 is a potassium octoate (potassium 2-ethylhexanoate) trimerization catalyst used primarily in polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid foam and rigid PU foam systems. It catalyzes the isocyanurate trimerization reaction, which builds the PIR ring structure responsible for improved thermal stability and fire performance in PIR board and block foam.
Typical loading: 1.5–4.0 phr in PIR systems, depending on target PIR/PUR ratio and processing conditions. Used in combination with amine catalysts in blended systems for optimized cream, gel, and tack-free times.
